Gardening, weeding, mulching, pruning, etc.
No, just a willingness to 'muck in.'
No, all tools are provided + tea/coffee & biscuits at conclusion!
Restoration of the Old English Garden, Danson Park, which was set to be grassed over by Bexley Council in 2015. All our volunteers are members of the Friends of the Shuttle, which keeps that river (flowing from Avery Hill to Hall place) free of litter & debris.
We hope to restore the garden to its former glory - a haven of beauty, peace & tranquility in the midst of the plainer, more open pastures of Danson Park. Our target of having all 18 beds adopted by individuals or groups has almost been reached. As I write (March, 2018), just 3 have yet to be adopted.
Visitors to the garden - mums with children, pensioners, local families, etc. - will benefit enormously from having more attractive surroundings. An added benefit is that, nearby Danson House now being the Register Office, wedding parties are starting to take photographs in the garden. And the local community generally will just derive great enjoyment and pleasure from seeing this historic site restored to its former glory.
