Support Volunteers are needed to work alongside our more vulnerable gardeners. You will need to be open and non-judgemental in your approach to others. Good people skills are more important than any gardening experience - but a bit of both is ideal.
Walton Charity and Paragon Housing have set up a community allotment, where people from different sections of our local community all work together. Whilst it is targeted at those who wouldn’t normally get involved in growing food, everybody's welcome to take part in growing and gardening, learning and developing hands on skills, and sharing the harvest.
Both amateur and experienced gardeners are welcome to attend and join in the fun.
This is a community project, where people from different sections of our local community all work together. It is targeted at those who wouldn’t normally get involved in growing food. Everybody is welcome to take part in growing/gardening, learning and developing hands on skills, and share the harvest. Whilst the key focus of the project is around learning basic horticultural skills, the project could also address social inclusion, and could specifically target those who might not normally be involved in such activities or who face particular barriers associated with mental health, disability, isolation, poverty or are otherwise vulnerable or in need.
