Profile Information

About Me:
I'm volunteering with Project Dirt. I'll be doing a load of stuff but am primarily here to help you get the most out of the site. I'll also be attending lots of events so will hopefully get to meet lots of you in the near future.

I'm a green thinker who wants to do (and learn) more. I live near Brixton and am a big fan of living locally and connecting with the community. Although I do some good stuff, like recycle, avoid flying and shop ethically, I'd like to take my engagement to the next level. Project Dirt seems like a great place to get stuck in!
Key Interests
Conservation, Recycling, Composting, Carbon Reduction, Wildlife, Education, Lobbying, Gardening
Experience/Skills
I'm an Internet Marketer so I really get what makes people tick online. I'm also a keen writer and love communicating ideas clearly and passionately.

In terms of environmental skills and experience, I love working outdoors and cooking the fruits of that labour! I'd love to learn more about all of the 'interests' I've just ticked: conservation, recycling, composting, carbon reduction, wildlife, education, lobbying and gardening...

Hi Lucy, thank you a lot. I wish I could do more but sometimes I feel a bit useless in London, closed into my tiny little room hoping for a miracle. Sometimes I get lost into the website...too many projects. For now I will look more close to your group hoping to joint you guys sometimes and get some extra help. thank you.

Hi Lucy

It would be great if you could come down to our BYO BBQ one night at the Union Street Urban Orchard. SEE Event on 21/08/10

Hi Lucy,

Thanks for your comments.
Our journey to organic & carbon-neutral status:

Recently I have presented our journey from complete non-farmers to one of the first organic carbon-neutral beef & lamb farms at The Royal Agricultural College and also at the last Transition Movement's International conference. I would be very happy to combine our next delivery to London on 25th August (or later deliveries) with a talk/ presentation at a suitable event. Just let me know if a London group may be interested.

At the last Transition conference I proposed a scheme to link rural and urban Transition groups together. Rural groups, like ours, can supply food using carbon-neutral growing and transport methods. Urban groups can provide the energy and enthusiasm of young people - such as working on farms for food, accommodation and a holiday.

In the meantime Field Power are making carbon-neutral deliveries of our organic, grass-fed, native breeds beef and lamb boxes, which are also carbon neutral - one of the first farms to fully convert - our water, water heating, space heating, electricity and transport fuel utilises/ is made of renewables. You can read about the details here: http://www.bigbarn.co.uk/ or place an order here: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Cottage-Farm-Shop. We deliver just once per month, every last Wednesday and quite a few people find it convenient to share a box. And btw, our prices are lower than supermarkets' prices for chemical meat!

Cheers
Paul

Yes, Lucy, the invisible food walks are real fun and they are a great opportunity for meeting like-minded people and learn from each other. We are what we eat, after all. The next walk is on the 12th of June. So, I hope I can meet you there. I offerred to help out with the organization and I love hunging around the storm camping gas....!!!
All the best in the meantime!
