I'm a creative strategist with a focus on developing toolkits and methodologies for sustainable design and social change, currently working with mo-shon / Melanin Partnership (urban marketing and creative engagement) and [re]design.
I have 5 years’ experience as a design researcher and curator with [re]design, propagating sustainable design approaches through exhibitions and events.
Enjoyed the meeting last night. Thanks for having me. I'm more than happy to put a bit of time into this so do keep in touch and let me know how I can help. Also, it looks like the boy Monbiot was sitting in on our conversation last night: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/georgemonbiot/2009/apr/07/plastic-bag-waste-carbon-emissions. Enjoy.
Sorry for not turning up at last night's meeting as I'd suggested I would. I got muddled up with the dates. Rushed home tonight to check the time and venue only to discover that it all happened last night. Oop. What's the best way of finding out your (Remade in Brixton) meeting itinerary? I'd be really interested to find out what you people are up to and meeting in real life seems a far more sensible way of doing so than over the internet.
I'm new to South London and have just been pointed in the direction of Project Dirt. Spotted your Remade in Brixton meeting on Wednesday evening. Is this an open meeting? Is it OK if I turn up? I'm very interested in what you are up to with this project.
Thanks for having me along on Wednesday, I thought all the points raised were really exciting and look forward to seeing how it all develops. If you ever need any practical help in the form of distributing information then please let me know - I'd be really keen to help.
On the PD side, as I said, if there's anything you'd like to ask about the page you have up then give me a shout. Might be interesting to publish a summary of the meeting?
I'm afraid i cant make it either - there's a function i have to go to - and cant get out of.
Jess - who's responded to the event - is doing some volunteering work with us at project dirt ... so she'll keep us fully posted on anyway we can help.
in the meantime, i've been having discssions with wandsworth bc (and sue Hyde FC) about doing a waste initiative. I'll keep you up to speed on any movements there.
i'll also check if nick (co-founder) is going to make it along. i know he's pretty busy at work at the mo though ...
Hi Hannah
I can't make the meeting tomorrow as I have a Hyde Farm CAN meeting, but I am interested in working with Remade in Brixton on community engagement - indeed this is my new role at Lambeth. Specifically my brief is to create more 'low carbon communities' like Hyde Farm CAN, with people working to reduce their impact on the environment in many ways...
I notice you want to talk about community engagement tonight so it's a shame I can't be there.
Specifically one opportunity I can see comes back to the fashion show idea. We are thinking of hosting a launch event for the Green Community Champions in June, and maybe an element of that could be a fashion show. The event being considered is a type of 'Open Evening' with stalls, but with refreshments, encouraging people to stay and spend time (maybe some drinks and food). I imagine dressing some councillors up in remade clothes! But I am sure there are other things you might like to highlight.. something to think about anyway...
All the best and let me know how the meeting goes
Sue
I'm meeting with someone from the London College of Fashion tomorrow - that's why I can't make your meeting. She is a contact from the London Leaders programme. I've just found out I have a new job as Lambeth's Green Communities champion, and for some reason I mentioned this idea in my interview, so perhaps we can get some backing from Lambeth too... Please keep me informed of your next meetings and in the meantime I will pass on any thoughts/updates/offers etc..
