Hello all! My name's Charlie, I'm very new to all this, but I did pop along to the social on the 18th August (go Kastoori!). Please don't misinterpret my motives for starting off a discussion thread, but at the meeting it was mentioned that there were a couple of documents kicking around that might be quite useful. From memory, one of them was our submission to the Wandsworth Council, and also what their written response was (I think there was something, wasn't there?).
Also, are there any general purpose Fairtrade flyer docs that get handed out at Fairtrade events? I mean, are there soft copies that could be posted up here as well? I don't know what the rules would be on printing out our own copies, are there copyright issues? Even if we don't have anything, then it would be good to know that, as I (or some of my more design-y friends) might be able to knock something up specifically for Wandsworth.
Basically, the Wandsworth Fairtrade site is great, and gives contact info and points to here for further info, but I reckon it would be really helpful for people like me, if there was a bit more stuff to read about (either there, or on the Project Dirt site). I know that the last thing anyone wants to be doing is updating the website constantly, especially if you're not sure how big your readership is. But there might be some useful docs kicking about. Personally, I'm interested both in the reasoning behind the Council's decision, and also feedback on what events have worked, and what hasn't. So, for instance, if me and a friend were thinking of giving away free cake and coffee at a tube station one morning, it would be really helpful if we could get some feedback here, say, saying for instance "for God's sake don't try this, as you'll just annoy the commuters, and everyone's carrying enough bumpf anyway".
Also, I was thinking it might be nice to get at least one discussion started on the Project Dirt site. Mind you, I was thinking about titling the post "The Council", but then I thought that would just depress people too much. Is "Docs Request" a bit pushy maybe? I'm sorry if it comes across that way, it's not meant to be.
Cheers
Charlie
