Sprouting 56
Sprouting 56 is an edible community garden and a space for weekly events, to gain and share knowledge about sustainable living and growing food. We have weekly workshops and talks on a Tuesday at 8:30pm and are in the garden from 11am till dusk on Saturdays. Once we've got a bit more growing we'll be experimenting with growing structures and hosting feasts and workshop days in the garden. Amongst many of the reasons for setting it up is an opportunity for cross disciplinary collaborations between students and the wider local community and to offer a peer to peer lead curriculum.
It is hosted by Ella Perkins and Owen Hodgkinson from their house and garden on Peckham Road which is opposite Camberwell University Peckham Road site.
All are welcome to pop in at any time or as often as you want, or to get in contact with us if you want to give a talk or workshop on a subject or a skill you have.

Would be great to see people at our election debate on the environment and Southwark at the Herne Tavern on Tuesday at 7.30pm (http://www.projectdirt.com/events/southwark-environmental). The more people we have who can ask questions, quiz the candidates and help stimulate debate the better!

Have a good weekend.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi, Jim and everyone
Don't usually use this page much as most people are signed up to the TTP website, but I have been asked to let you know that TTP drinks are going ahead this evening at the Gowlett, Gowlett Road, Peckham, but from 8pm or so; a little later than usual. I gather plans are afoot for a food meeting quite soon, so Giovanna is keen for interested people to come along this eve, to help with literature distribution etc. People interested in supporting/working with us in other ways are also more than welcome.

Jim, I think the next energy meeting is on the 16th (to be confirmed) so an unfortunate clash there with your meeting, but I know many are still keen to work together wherever possible. Best wishes from me and the others in TTP

Hi. Southwark Friends of the Earth are having our monthly meeting next Tuesday (16th) and will be keen to look at what other groups in the area we can work with to highlight the need for action on climate change and related issues ahead of the local and general elections this year. Any and all welcome. Details here: http://www.projectdirt.com/events/southwark-friends-of-the-earth-2

Jim

Hi Katy,

Good to know, we're having our first Southwark FoE meeting of 2010 next Tuesday 12th January at 7.00pm at the Herne Tavern. The theme will be 'Growing your Own' and will feature speakers on Forest Gardening, community growing projects, and a speaker from Food Up Front on making the best of unused outdoor spaces.

Will be sure to mention your Food Group meeting on the 30th then - hope to see you there.

Hi Jim
Thanks for this info. I take it that the meeting on the 8th is a Friends of the Earth meeting. Thanks for the alert. Transition Town Peckham had a great meeting with the Energy Saving Trust yesterday, generating lots of great ideas and enthusiasm that will help to kick-start our carbon reduction plan. It's great to know people are really taking the energy issue up locally, and to hear about further funding opportunities. Those with an interest in food, please note, we're hoping to kick-start a TTP food group in January. Please drop us a line via the website, if interested. Many thanks.
Katy
