Sustainable South East England

Can we self organise for sustainability within and across the South East? And can we do so in a way which is more linked in and aware of what's happening in London?

Background

A quick look through PD members suggests at least a dozen from within South East England (at the time of writing, numbers have grown since). OK. SSEE more of a group than a project, but online social networking can and does facilitate groups as well as projects. Here within PD, the Linking Up London programme asks some questions about linking up London. We can ask similar questions about South East England. Also a group such as this could invite other projects from across the South East to enrich and enhance the PD network for both existing and prospective members. I'd been thinking of setting up a network outside of PD, but my instinct is to go for something more integrated and joined up if that looks possible.

Hi Steve
You may want to get in touch with Azul-Valerie Thome who has secured a piece of land in Harringey, owned by the NHS, to use as a community space, growing, nature etc. They appear to have been very successful. they don't use project dirt, but you can sign up to their ning site, The Meadow. http://shepherdscothealinggarden.ning.com which is very similar.

Hello everybody, and thanks Phil for the invitation to join SSSE. We're finding it rather hard going to get more of the community, here in affluent Sevenoaks, involved in Transition themes. But we do now have a Food+Growing group and are looking at several projects (and sources of funding for them). One is to set up a community garden for food growing, for which we need to identify a plot of land. If anyone has experience of dealing with landowners, councils and funders in this regard, I'd welcome tips on what to do/not to do. steve

Hi everyone. Nice to meet you all online. I'm planning to run a workshop on Guerrilla Gardening for Clowns in London probably on 23/24 May. I'll forward more details when I have a venue booked and can confirm the date.
all the best, Koogiex
