Great to see this group - I'm starting up an allotment and forest garden site at Roehampton Uni (Froebel Colleage) in the hope of encouraging schools and teachers to see the kinds of things that can be done and also ITE students as part of their course. Would be good to hear your thoughts

Sustainability will be part of the new diploma in environmental and land based studies. The City and Guilds option is based around sustainabilty unfortunately the edexcel one is based around those pet rescue programmes you get on daytime telly. The City and guilds one has been approved and will come out in September this year, however very few people are taking up teaching this course. You need to have a teaching qualification and I would advise teaming up with someone. You then need to find out who your consortium or strategic partnership is, they will then help you get through 3 very difficult 'gateways'. Only then can you teach the diploma. We are working with our consortium to teach this in Watford and Waltham Forest are through all their gateways. I don't know of anyone else who has clearance yet in London.

Good luck!

Hi Tim. I am interested in a career in sustainability education I think. Well been just moved to a sustainability comms consultancy as an intern for 6 weeks. Been thinking how powerful school children could be in making impactful changes and pestering parents to do the same and was thinking I would love a job whereby I go into schools to run progams on sustainability/carry out audits in eco-schools etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rachel
