Hola!
Quick note about the next Southwark Friends of the Earth meeting next Tuesday, 7.30pm at the Herne Tavern featuring a talk from Pamela Brunton of the Soil Association on how we're going to feed ourselves in the UK.

More details here: http://www.projectdirt.com/events/southwark-friends-of-the-earth-3

Anyone living in or near Sydenham might be interested to know that there is now a Transition Sydenham movement. We would welcome new members, people with ideas for projects, and anyone interested in finding out more. Check out our project page on PD for details of our next film screening event in May, and also the website: www.transitionsydenham.eu.

Would be great to see people at our election debate on the environment and Southwark at the Herne Tavern on Tuesday at 7.30pm (http://www.projectdirt.com/events/southwark-environmental). The more people we have who can ask questions, quiz the candidates and help stimulate debate the better!

Have a good weekend.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi,

The first Southwark FoE meeting of 2010 will be taking place at the Herne Tavern on Tuesday 12th January at 7.00pm. The theme will be 'Growing your Own' and will be a chance to learn more about growing your own food - wherever you live.

Firstly, Friends of the Earth’s Jo Pickett-Baker will show us how to grow a wealth of edible plants in the low effort, high yield system of forest gardening. Drawing on the example of Devon market gardener Martin Crawford, Jo’s talk includes clips from his latest DVD, as well as practical tips to get started.

Secondly, urban foodies Growing Southwark will share their projects and plans for our area. Set up last year, this dynamic new group has lots of ideas for new approaches to community food growing.

Lastly, Food Up Front will inspire us to become more self-sufficient in food produced from our unused outdoor spaces. Their members across South London are already growing food on spaces like windowsills and balconies and sharing this food locally. We’ll learn how this helps reduce our carbon footprint, and lessens our dependency on the big supermarkets.

Hope to see you there.

Hi Merlyn

Get in touch, and I'll help you get the most out of your webpage for SLP. We can add more stuff, to make it more interesting for the reader, and upload things like your Urban Green Fair poster to the front page, rather than hiding in a discussion forum.
Let me know if you want to discuss by phone, and I'll email you my phone number
