Have had an apology from Lambeth Living and a promise of a meeting with the residents association (didn't know it existed - I was on the TMO committee before it was abolished) and the residents involvement worker. Will let you know what goes on. Sunflowers that were left alone are looking fantastic.

Hi People's Republic of Southwark... very sorry to hear of that devastation at Wyndham Road. That's a guerrilla garden that Phoebe who lives near by started with Lyla and I about 18 months ago. I've helped out there when she's asked a few times and it's done well. A very friendly area too, I know other locals were delighted. Definitely worth complaining. We've got photos of how bleak it looked before we ever touched it. Des Waters, Head of Southwark's public realm is a thug and numskull of the highest order, ultimately this is his doing.

What is it with these people??? The "gardeners" on my estate pulled out the wallflowers that were happily growing and reseeding themselves, and flowering and smelling lovely. OK, bit of a haven for snails, but I guess that is good for birds and hedgehogs! Now we have some beautiful patches of bare earth, groundsell and thistle. Luckily I have plenty more wallflower seed to scatter. DEFINITELY kick up a fuss.

don't know if you're aware, the southwark council busybodies have dug out the whole of the absolutely stunning wildflowers on wyndham road, se5 (in front of one of the towerblocks). people who lived in the building loved it. everyone passing by who noticed it loved it. i think it happened a week/two weeks ago, and i haven't had the time to kick up a fuss about this but am very tempted to!

Hey fantastic! Yes I definitely will. And I'll see if Graham wants to come along too. That's made my day.

I'm up in Cumbria at the moment and our car park gardens are looking lovely - will try to get some pics. Need some work - lots of weeds. But poppies and cosmos doing their job very well. Luckily for them it is raining massively here (despite hosepipe ban). Shame it's not the same story in Oval.

Ameena. Look what just arrived in my inbox. This is rather good news. Would you like to join me to meet the Chief Exec some time soon?:

Richard

I spoke to the chief exec of Lambeth today regarding incidents where planting has been dug up by the councillors after work has been done by Guerrila Gardeners.

He has agreed to have a meeting with you to discuss the issue plus I am keen to formalise some kind of ‘adpot a plot’ scheme to enable and encourage people to adopt areas of ground currently uncared for.

Are there any particular times that are better for you?

Hi Ameena. Yes the fruit & nut map is alive I believe, it looks like it was updated 6 days ago! If ever you need to find something on Project Dirt, just use the search box at the top right of every page of PD... try "fruit map" - I won't leave a link, as I want to tell more people aboout the search box... it's great! Richard - thanks for reminder about Union Street, they have a project page on PD (here) and I've just let them know about the fruit and nut map.

I'm not sure about the map... but I know the Urban Orchard on Union Street SE1 is gathering details of fruit and nut mapping. It's a wonderful place, I was there on Sunday. Well worth a visit. It's temporary, but exists until mid September.

This is Lambeth isn't it? Might be worth seeking the advice of Christopher Wellbelove, ex Mayor and ex (or perhaps current) guerrilla gardener. http://www.wellbelove.com/ Of all the boroughs I've encountered Lambeth in theory should know better now.

By the way - is the fruit and nut map still on here somewhere? Have found a wonderful mulberry tree and although I'm loath to tell everyone where it is, the fruit is just dropping off it so I guess there's plenty to go round! And a morello cherry in a similar state.
