Do you want to:
• Be more effective in what you do on climate change?
• Know more about what’s happening across London?
• Build you skills and share your experiences?

The London Low Carbon Communities Network (LLCCN) is a new network designed to help us all be more effective. It aims to:
• Support existing voluntary action on climate change
• Engage and support new voluntary action groups
• Enable better cooperation between groups and sectors

To make this happen LLCCN will develop:
• Web-based resources including an on-line map and directory, social networking, linkages and information, and news and updates on key issues for London.
• Training and skill-sharing : the network will help build skills on issues from policy work, communication and outreach to practical food and energy projects.
• An open forum - quarterly London-wide meetings offering opportunities for updates and feedback on London-wide activity including action by the Mayor and London councils etc. , for sharing of plans, good practices, and experiences, and offering opportunities for networking.
• Outreach: the network will offer support through existing groups and activists to new and potential groups and projects.

Help make this happen! Whatever kind of group you work with this network is open to you. We need people and organisations to help plan this initiative, to develop the resources and to discuss what we should and should not do. Sign up now, read the attached paper and give us your comments here.

Hi everyone,
I am making carbon-neutral deliveries of our organic, grass-fed, native breeds beef and lamb boxes, which are also carbon neutral - one of the first farm to convert - all our water, water heating, space heating, electricity and fuel utilises renewable sources. You can read about the details and/or place an order on Big Barn: http://www.bigbarn.co.uk/ and look up 'Fieldpower'. We deliver in London just once per month, every last Wednesday and quite a few people find it convenient to share a box. And btw, our prices are lower than supermarkets' prices for chemical meat.

Recently I have presented our journey from non-farmers to one of the first organic carbon-neutral beef & lamb farms in the UK at The Royal Agricultural College and also at the Transition Network International conference. I would be very happy to combine our next delivery on 29th September (or later deliveries) with a talk/ presentation at a suitable venue. Just let me know if you are interested.
Best wishes
Paul

The next meeting of the Network is at the GLA at 6pm on Tuesday July 13th. It will be in a committee room on the lower floor by the restaurant.

We very much hope that you can join us. The meeting in May was very productive and we hope that this one will be too.

Come and find people to help you with your projects. (we don't have to keep reinventing the wheel). The key themes for the meeting (which will be run on an ‘open space’ basis so there’s room for plenty of discussion) will be:
• Funding.
• Links with other London wide networks.
• Recent national developments around local action
• Follow up from the last meeting on
o Culture change vs behaviour change.
o Networking with the Low Carbon Zones

If you’ve got comments on this or would like to suggest other topics, we have a site on Project Dirt - www.projectdirt.com/group/LondonLCCN where you can post ideas / comments.

Best wishes

The Low Carbon Communities Network (national version) is running a survey anout local group action. "Thanks to all those (120+) who’ve filled in our on-line survey. We’re getting a lot of useful information about what you’re doing and what we could be doing. If you’ve not had your say, please do fill in the survey. It only takes a few minutes.
You can do it on line at...http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9GSZGGY
And please do it soon: the survey closes on June 11th.
Thanks

North London Eco House Weekend

On the weekend of 12th - 13th June there will be an opportunity to visit 11 low carbon homes around north London and get insights from the owners on low carbon refurbishment. There are some great homes to see but note that for some you will need to prebook.

The next meeting of the London Low Carbon Communities Network. This event takes place in Room CR4&5 at City Hall from 6pm for a 6.30pm start, until 8.30pm on Monday 17th May 2010.

There’s plenty to talk about. London-wide the London Plan and the Mayor’s Climate Strategy are under discussion; there’s more and more going on locally, and there’s ideas that came from the first meeting to take forward. These include the London Climate Action resources Map which is now up and running (you can add materials to it) at: www.communitymaps.org.uk/version3/includes/MiniSite.php?minisitename=LondonClimateResourceMap

May 17th will include some short presentations. One of these will be from Maria Adebowale, Director of NGO and social enterprise Capacity Global. She will focus on building diversity within our organisations and engaging with different communities. The rest of the work will be done through facilitated round table discussions around different issues. If you’ve got ideas for a discussion please get in touch as below. The meeting will finish with some networking time. Please RSVP to: sue.j.brown@btinternet.com

Would be great to see people at our election debate on the environment and Southwark at the Herne Tavern on Tuesday at 7.30pm (http://www.projectdirt.com/events/southwark-environmental). The more people we have who can ask questions, quiz the candidates and help stimulate debate the better!

Have a good weekend.

Thanks,

Jim
