The importance of working well with communities is now widely recognised. It is not just about working with local people, but with active communities and organisations within them.
This course gives a thorough grounding in the key aspects of working effectively with communities and local organisations. You will learn why community engagement matters and how to make your own and stakeholders’ involvement in this work as positive and productive as possible.

Who should attend this course?
• Anyone who works with local communities and who wants to improve their skills.
• Whether your interest is in strategic planning or ground level community engagement, the day will suit both those developing work in this area and more experienced practitioners wanting to refresh their skills.
The Facilitator
Chris Church has worked in the voluntary sector and as a consultant for over 25 years. He is an experienced advisor on community and sustainable development
issues, with a wide range of experience at international, national, and community
level. He is an associate of the Community Development Foundation and a member of the London Sustainable Development Commission. He has worked for organisations including the Community Sector Coalition, the National Trust, BTCV, Defra, Groundwork, the European Union TACIS programme, Surfers Against Sewage, and many local councils. He is trained as a teacher and has been developing and running training programmes for 22 years.
Prices include a vegan/vegetarian lunch, Fair Trade refreshments and networking time with organic wine.

• Smaller charities (under 8 staff) and Individuals £120
