Haringey Carbon Reduction / Sustainability Fortnight
DECEMBER 5th-18th 2009
Two weeks ( more!) of green events throughout Haringey

The UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December is being called the most important international event in human history - discussing, debating and protesting on the streets about what needs to be done to reduce global carbon emissions, stop catastrophic climate change and to create a sustainable world for future generations. What can we, the people around the world, do ourselves to speak out during the conference?

The fortnight will kick off with huge demonstrations in capital cities, including London. Here in Haringey, residents and local community groups have organised green events throughout that fortnight to let people know what the key issues are which we are facing, and what we can all do to make a real difference. Please see the latest programme of events below, and encourage your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to go along and also to help publicise them...

Sat Dec 12th    10am-11am.  NO! to climate change & capitalism - Stall/leafleting at Seven Sisters tube, N15   Called by Haringey Solidarity Group.   www.haringey.org.uk  

Sat Dec 12th   6pm-9pm  CHATI Transition Event - Ways to create a low carbon future @ Hornsey Vale Community Centre, 60 mayfield Rd, N8  With info about local currency and LETS, skills sharing and how to make your own low carbon pledge. Sun Dec 13th    Launch of the new Haringey Urban Harvest Network - which will have fun harvesting and redistributing unpicked fruit next year. Meet to leaflet from midday starting at the clocktower crouch end, then 3pm get together at the Tollgate pub, Turnpike Lane N8. www.UrbanHarvest.org.uk

Sat Dec 19th, 12-6pm  Consultation and celebration event for the new Meadow Orchard Project, Hornsey Neighbourhood Health Centre, Park Road, N8

Sun Dec 20th   1pm-5pm.  After Copenhagen - Where do we go from here?
