Haringey Carbon Reduction / Sustainability Fortnight
DECEMBER 5th-18th 2009
Two weeks ( more!) of green events throughout Haringey

The UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December is being called the most important international event in human history - discussing, debating and protesting on the streets about what needs to be done to reduce global carbon emissions, stop catastrophic climate change and to create a sustainable world for future generations. What can we, the people around the world, do ourselves to speak out during the conference?

The fortnight will kick off with huge demonstrations in capital cities, including London. Here in Haringey, residents and local community groups have organised green events throughout that fortnight to let people know what the key issues are which we are facing, and what we can all do to make a real difference. Please see the latest programme of events below, and encourage your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to go along and also to help publicise them...

Sat 21st Nov. Friends of the Earth stall in Muswell Hill, and Sustainable Haringey stall outside Wood Green Library (11am-12noon)

Tues 24th Nov. 8pm 'Climate Action Now' public meeting in Wood Green Library. Film, speakers, discussion. Organised by Sustainable Haringey and Campaign vs Climate Change. The new 'Sustainability Fortnight' leaflets for mass distribution will be available to pick up at that public meeting - so please come and pick some up for your street/area...

Wed 25th Nov - Sat Dec 5th: Mass leafleting all over the borough to publicise our Carbon Reduction / Sustainability Fortnight events!

Sat 28th Nov, 6pm Launch of new local green film club for South Tottenham: St Ignatius Parish, 27 High Road, Tottenham, London N15 6ND. The first film being shown is 'The Power of Community'.

Sat 28th Nov, 1pm to 4pm. Tree Trust for Haringey Celebratory Social – The Union Church & Community Centre, Weston Park, N8
